The week of Thanksgiving has grown into something even bigger in recent years. In addition to families coming together to celebrate things they are thankful for, it has also become a week of shopping and sales. Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and Cyber Monday are among three of the most recognized sales days in the entire year. While we certainly hope you stop by the Box Office on Small Business Saturday, or take advantage of our Gift Card Sales on Cyber Monday, there’s another day we could use your support with:
Giving Tuesday. Giving Tuesday is celebrated in the US on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to encourage philanthropy and acts of generosity during the holidays. The event, now in its eighth year, is heavily driven by social media using the hashtag #GivingTuesday.
Every year on Giving Tuesday, people come together on Facebook to support and champion the causes they believe in by donating and fundraising. This year, Facebook has expanded their partnership and commitment to provide the largest match in the history of Giving Tuesday. With their partner PayPal, they are matching up to a total of $7 million in donations made on Facebook to eligible US nonprofits. In order to take advantage of Facebook's Donation Doubling, we have to receive donations within the first few minutes after 8:00AM EST on Giving Tuesday, December 3, 2019, as the donation cap for doubling will undoubtedly be met by Non-Profits across the country in record time. If we miss that window, your contributions are still greatly appreciated.
On Tuesday, December 3rd, Donors will have the opportunity to make a donation on our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/donate/607145556693234/10158203864240832/) through our “Giving Tuesday Donation Campaign” which will be pinned to the top of our Facebook page that day. Donations will be accepted from 12AM that Tuesday through 11:59PM on New Years Eve.
