Executive Director

 

Organization:  The Campanile Center for the Performing Arts (CCA) is an independent, not for profit 501(c)3 regional arts and education center located in downtown Minocqua, WI. The CCA has established its role as a key collaborator and access point for the arts in the Lakeland community and fulfills an important role in the area’s unique identity, quality of life, and economy. The CCA began as a dream of creating a regional arts center in the heart of the Northwoods in rural Wisconsin and became a reality in 2006. In 2007, the North Central Wisconsin Conservatory for the Arts merged with the CCA to become the education wing of the campus. Additionally, the Lakeland Community Concert Band and Lakeland Community Chorus came under the CCA umbrella, which established the CCA as the keystone of the arts in the Northwoods.  Current primary activities include a performing arts series (12 performances over a 10-month period), a small visual arts gallery, a music and visual arts conservatory with 9 faculty, and a newly established education outreach program.

 

Position Summary: The Campanile Center for the Arts Wisconsin seeks a full-time Executive Director to provide administrative leadership for education, performances and exhibition, with emphasis on fundraising and development. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this professional must have an established background in the creations, management and reporting of financial and operating plans, experience working with community partners and boards, as well as coordinating nonprofit donation strategies.

 

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, three to five years prior experience leading and managing in a non-profit setting with proven fund development experience, preferably in the arts. They should also have strong written and verbal communication skills, be highly organized, motivating, as well as self-motivated to achieve outcomes.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSBILITIES

Strategic Development and Administration

  • Leads the Board in the development of a vision, long-range plan and specific strategies and measurable outcomes which achieves the organization’s mission and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress.
  • Provide leadership in developing program, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors and responsible for execution of plans and policies authorized by the Board
  • Maintain a volunteer program which supports the organization’s needs
  • Maintain official records and documents and ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations
  • Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field
  • Plan and research performing arts series on an annual basis within budgetary guidelines

Communications/Marketing

  • See that the board is kept fully informed on the condition of the organization and all important factors influencing it
  • Establish sound working relationships and cooperative arrangements with community groups and organizations
  • Represent the programs and point of view of the organization to agencies, organizations and the general public
  • Responsible for ongoing maintenance of donor database
  • Provide leadership in the development of annual plans for programs, performances and events

 

Human Resources

  • Be responsible for the recruitment, employment and release of all personnel, both paid staff and volunteers consistent with Federal Labor Laws
  • Ensure that job descriptions are developed for paid and volunteer staff and annual performance evaluations are completed
  • Maintain a culture that attracts, retains and motivates a diverse staff and volunteer base of top quality people

 

Financial and Legal

  • Responsible for creation and, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, execution of annual development plan
  • Develop and present annual budget to board of directors
  • Assure that generally acceptable accounting practices are maintained for the organization
  • Monitor budget and report monthly financial performance to the Board
  • Assure annual audit/review of organization’s financial records to ensure compliance
  • Jointly, with the board of directors, conduct official correspondence of the organization, and jointly with designated officers, execute legal documents
  • Write grant and foundation requests for the CCA and actively seek new avenues for support
  • Maintain accurate donor records and assure timely response, acknowledging all gifts

 

Compensation and Benefits

The position is full time, exempt. Competitive salary, health insurance stipend and paid vacation.
