Juvenile in Justice

Juvenile in Justice

October 26 - December 14, 2018

Photographer Richard Ross captured images of over 1,000 juvenile inmates housed in over 300 detention centers and correctional facilities throughout the U.S. and Canada. According to his website, the “Juvenile in Justice” project explored the “treatment of American juveniles housed by law in facilities that treated, confined, punished, assisted and, occasionally, harmed them.” The hope was that “by seeing these images, people would have a better understanding of the conditions that exist,” he wrote on his website at www.juvenile-in-justice.com.

An opening reception was held October 26, 2018. A gallery talk was provided by Jimmy McGill, State Peer Recovery Coordinator with the Arkansas Drug Director’s Office.
