The musical Promises, Promises was nominated for four Tony Awards.  Based on the 1960 Oscar-winning film The Apartment, this raucous comedy features a book by Broadway legend Neil Simon with songs by the powerhouse composing team Burt Bacharach and Hal David.  Songs include popular hits of the 60s such as “I’ll Never Fall in Love Again”, “A House is Not a Home”, “I Say a Little Prayer” and title song “Promises, Promises”.

Leawood Stage Company was thrilled to welcome  back Kevin Bogan as director.  Kevin has directed and music directed prior LSC shows, as well as performing the lead role in “Sunday in the Park with George”.

The show follows a young, ambitious accountant for a New York insurance company named Chuck Baxter as he climbs the ladder by allowing the  firm’s executives to use his midtown apartment  for extramarital love affairs.  Trouble occurs when Chuck discovers that the object of his own  affection, Fran Kubelik, is having a rendezvous at his place with his manager, J.D Sheldrake.

If you are a fan of Mad Men and other shows that embrace the swinging energy of the mid-century, Promises, Promises is the show for you.
