The Athenaeum's "Flicks on the Bricks" Series
La Jollans of Noir: Vintage Crime Thrillers Starring Actors with a La Jolla Connection

Must be 21+
The Athenaeum's outdoor movie series, "Flicks on the Bricks" makes it possible for you to enjoy classic movies that you love while enjoying the beautiful summer night on the patio of the Athenaeum.
The Athenaeum’s popular film series, Flicks on the Bricks, returns in August for its 14th year. Guests are invited to join us on the outdoor patio for balmy summer nights and screenings of classic cinema al fresco. Series tickets for the open-air theater include three memorable films. This year the film series will be curated and presented by KPBS film critic Beth Accomando and noir aficionado D. A. Kolodenko.
This summer will feature La Jollans of Noir: Vintage Crime Thrillers Starring Actors with a La Jolla Connection. This includes Underworld USA (1961)—starring Cliff Robertson, La Jolla born and raised; Mirage (1965)—starring Gregory Peck, La Jolla born and raised; and Sudden Fear (1952)—starring Joan Crawford, who had a vacation residence in La Jolla.
Accomando is currently in the midst of a yearlong noir film series at Digital Gym Cinema called Noir on the Boulevard. The series is programmed by Film Geeks SD and screens a classic noir one Sunday a month and a neo-noir every other month on a Monday night. Kolodenko is guest blogging on KPBS Cinema Junkie with a column about the Noir Book of the Month Club, focusing on the literary sources of the classic noir films screening at Digital Gym Cinema.
Brush up on your TRIVIA as there will be PRIZES and GIVEAWAYS at each screening.
