Kori Rushton, Producing Artistic Director of IRT Theater, has been experimenting with Sign/voice and the blending of Deaf and hearing cultures in theatre for the last eighteen years. She has extensive experience coaching theater companies on making their shows accessible to both Deaf and Hard of Hearing audiences. She is founder and chair of the popular educational drama program, The Westside Experiment, held each summer at IRT, in NYC. Recently partnering with Kennedy Center, this summer drama lab pairs high school students with working theater companies. Kori s a tenured New York City theater arts educator who worked in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) in Deaf and hearing programs for two years and in New York for seventeen years. She founded and developed a Theater program at Brooklyn School for Collaborative Studies.
Kori attended LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts and earned her a BFA from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and a Masters of Educational Theater from City College of New York. In 2011, Kori received the Lincoln Center Institute's Imagination Award.
