The Music Mountain board of directors has made the painful decision to cancel our summer concert season and in-person education programs for the first time in 91 years due to COVID-19.

NEXT FESTIVAL OF EMERGING ARTISTS

May 24 - June 6, 2020

(May 24-31, 2020 at Music Mountain)

 

The next generation of professional string players from around the country gather for an intensive exploration of music with Peter Askim, NextFest Artistic Director. Our 2020 Guest Artist will be cellist Ashley Bathgate, an “eloquent new music interpreter” (The New York Times) and “a glorious cellist” (The Washington Post)

LUCARELLI OBOE MASTER CLASS

July 12-17, 2020

 

24th annual master class focusing on oboe fundamentals, reed-making, and solo repertoire. The class will be taught by Charles Huang, Kristin Leitterman and Humbert Lucarelli. Participants will have intensive oboe instruction for five days, resulting in a performance on the last day. Dr. Huang and Dr. Leitterman will work intensively one-on-one with each person in half-hour segments, carefully assessing each oboist's strengths and needs to improve performance skills. All participants will have an opportunity to play for Bert Lucarelli in a special class that will focus on recital repertoire. A piano accompanist will be provided during the classes and for the concert.

Join the Harlem Quartet first violinist and Harlem Quartet Workshop director, Ilmar Gavilán, if outside of age group and interested in either session. ETCHINGS FESTIVAL

August 2-9, 2020

(Deadline: March 22, 2020)

 

For over a decade, Etchings has been a premiere festival for emerging composers with a history of prominent composer-faculty and performer-faculty. Now at Music Mountain, The Etchings Festival continues to provide excellent professional and artistic opportunities for its fellows. 2020 composition faculty includes Martin Brody, David Rakowski, Tina Tallon, and George Tsontakis. If you are a composer you may apply to the Chamber Music Program and the Experimental Opera Program. Poets, librettists, actors and directors are also welcome to apply to the Experimental Opera Program.
