Jay Bixler (Education Director)
Acting for Teens, Improv for Teens, Stagecraft, Broadway Babies
Originally from Greenville, Mississippi, Jay Bixler has been acting and volunteering in community theatre for over 30 years. A Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Jay served as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the 5th Marine Regiment in California and later as the chief administrator for Aviation Maintenance Squadron 1 at Naval Air Station Pensacola. Jay has been an active part of Pensacola's theatre community for over 15 years, acting and directing shows for Pensacola Little Theatre, Pensacola State College, and the Pensacola Shakespeare Company, as well as appearing in local commercials for the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Florida. Jay has been teaching classes at PLT for over 8 years and has taught everything from adult acting to improv. He is a founding member of Pensacola's own improvisational comedy troupe, Improvable Cause.
Kayla May is a native to the Gulf Coast and delighted to be teaching at Pensacola Little Theatre. Kayla holds a BA in Acting from the University of West Florida and has performed professionally along the Gulf Coast and in New England. Favorite acting credits include The Secret Garden (New London Barn Playhouse), My Barista! (Northwest Florida Theatre Festival), On the Verge (UWF), A Christmas Carol - A Ghost Story of Christmas (UWF), The 39 Steps (The Martin Theatre), Murder Rides Again (SherlocksMystery Dinner Theatre), Guys and Dolls (GCSC), Annie Get Your Gun (PLT), and Webcamelot: The Series (Youtube). In addition to acting, Kayla has over 10 years of educational theatre experience. She is proud to serve as Camps Director at the New London Barn Playhouse in New London, New Hampshire, and co-sponsors West Florida High School's after-school theatre program. She is a member of EdTA (Educational Theatre Association) and FATE (Florida Association for Theatre Education).
Adult Acting Classes
Originally from Gulf Breeze, FL, Kyle Golden graduated from UWF in 2013 with his Bachelor's Degree in Theatre. He is a member of Pensacola's premiere improv comedy troupe, Improvable Cause as well as a local sketch comedy group. Kitty Get a Job. He last performed in the play Bug at PLT, which he also directed and produced.
Lab Rats - Teen Improv Troupe
Christina Cusack-Curbelo is a Miami native who now calls Pensacola home. She is a singer-songwriter, actress, voice-over artist, and performing member of Improvable Cause, Pensacola's premier improv comedy troupe. She last appeared on the PLT stage in the 2015 production of God of Carnage.
Intro to Improv for Kids, Intro to Acting for Kids
Michelle has been acting and directing at PLT for over a decade. Among her many accomplishments, she is the Director of the Southeastern Teen Shakespeare Company and First City Shakespeare and most recently she directed the Tennesee Williams parody by Christopher Durang "For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls".
