Thalian Hall is proud to produce the Thalian Hall Main Attractions Series, Pied Piper Theatre with the Junior League of Wilmington, Inc., the Cinematique film series with WHQR, and several Special Events throughout the year. Income generated by ticket sales for these Thalian Hall productions is integral to fullfilling the mission of Thalian Hall.

Each year Thalian Hall produces the Main Attractions Series which provides Wilmington audiences the chance to see great touring artists from around the world. Members of Friends of Thalian Hall receive discounts on Main Attractions tickets, access to advance ticket purchase before the general public, and other benefits.

Each year the Pied Piper Theatre performs for over 6,000 school students in New Hanover County. First and second grade school children travel to Thalian Hall by bus and are treated to an original musical comedy featuring talent derived from the local acting community. Pied Piper Theatre is produced by the Junior League of Wilmington and the staff of Thalian Hall Center Performing Arts, Inc.

At the beginning of the school year, teachers receive a synopsis of the play and a selection of songs to be taught in music classes. When the children arrive, their familiarity with the music and story helps to create an interactive environment. Each play expresses positive themes, along with a large dose of theatrical magic and laughter. For some children this may be their first exposure to live theatre.

For more than 150 years the community has enjoyed live theatre on the beautiful Thalian Hall Main Stage. In the past decade, we have added the excitement of watching the Main Stage transform into an art film house, as films are projected onto a large screen framed by Thalian Hall's historic proscenium.

Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts, Inc. and WHQR Public Radio co-produce Cinematique, the best art house film experience in Wilmington. This film series offers independent and notable films from the United States and all around the world. Cinematique has consistently brought films that are generally not screened in our area at the major multiplexes. With the emerging recognition of independent film by the Golden Globe and Academy Awards, we are often in the position of providing the only opportunity to see awards-nominated films before those events take place.

The Thalian Hall concession stand offers fresh popcorn, snacks, and a full selection of fine wines and beers as well as fresh coffee provided by Port City Java.

Most Cinematique films are screened at 7:00pm, Monday through Wednesday. Occasionally the days and screening times are adjusted for special showings, holiday screenings or to accommodate other events in the building. Cinematique films are chosen by the Cinematique Film Committee, comprised of Thalian Hall and WHQR staff.

Every year Thalian Hall holds Special Events to assist with fund raising for THCPA and partnering organizations. This year's special events will include A Taste of the Town, a New Year's Eve Gala presented with City Stage, and the annual Legacy Dinner.
